The Wellington Park Management Trust have approved the conversion of Old Farm Track to a single use (bike only) and single direction (downhill only) track. This is an exciting project for the City, which will contribute to the development of a cohesive mountain bike track network within Wellington Park.

The approval includes a permit to construct approximately 150m section of new track between lower Old Farm Track and Main Fire Trail. The new section will separate riders travelling at speed from walkers using the Myrtle Gully Track. The existing junction of Old Farm Track with Myrtle Gully Track will be blocked off after the new track is completed. Follow this link to the City of Hobart's web page to view a map of the location of the works www.hobartcity.com.au/oldfarmtrack [no longer active]

Construction of the new track section is scheduled to commence in May 2015, and includes a volunteer track building day on Sunday May 10 2015.

Those who have already expressed interest in volunteering will shortly receive an email from the City of Hobart's Bushcare coordinator with the relevant information. Other volunteers interested in participating need to register as a City of Hobart Volunteer. Follow this link www.hobartcity.com.au/bushcare to the City's Bushcare page for further information.

On completion of track works and the installation of updated signage, the new use restrictions will become active and enforceable.

What will this mean?

Completion of the project will mean that:

The City of Hobart wishes to thank all those who have been involved in the project, and taken the time to comment on the proposal.
