So some good and bad news for Hollybank MTB (and the North Eastern Mountain Bike Project) this week.

As reported in the Examiner Newspaper (June 25) The Launceston City Council have decided not to provide direct funding support for the North Eastern Mountain Bike Project (agenda item 17, pp37-40).

However, on the good news front, it looks like the project is still proceeding with Northern Development Tasmania putting out a call for Expressions of Interest to develop a shortlist of skills delivery providers.  Full details are available on their website.

This from the NDT Newsletter:

"The North Eastern Mountain Bike Development Project is the development of 90kms of world-class mountain biking experience and trail infrastructure. This development will drive mountain bike (MTB) tourism and recreation in NE Tasmania.

"The first phase of ongoing public investment in mountain biking infrastructure across the region is the construction of 18kms of trail at Hollybank Forest Reserve. This trail is supported by a grant covered by the Tasmanian Government’s Tasmanian Jobs Package 2012.  A key element of the project is training and skill development opportunities for local people.

"This EOI will develop a shortlist of skills delivery providers. This list will be provided to professional mountain bike trail building companies tendering for this work.

"Expressions of Interest are to be no more than five (5) pages long and demonstrate capabilities to achieve the required outcomes.

"All interested applicants please visit NTD's website or contact Andrew Halliday on 03 6380 6800 or via email."
