Public comment is being sought on the Draft Meehan Range Nature Recreation Area (Redgate Section) Management Statement 2017 by 8 January 2018.

The draft management statement has been prepared to improve management of the recreational, natural and cultural values of this area.

The Meehan Range Nature Recreation Area located east of Hobart, has become increasingly popular for mountain bike riding over the past several years and is recognised nationally as a quality mountain bike destination. It is also highly valued by the local community for recreational opportunities such as walking, running, bird watching, dog walking and horse riding.

The draft management statement proposes that the Parks and Wildlife Service and the Clarence City Council work together to engage with and support volunteer groups to undertake approved activities in the reserve.

The key section for mountain bikers is in section 5.
