Bike week aims to encourage people to get on their bikes in a supported and social environment. A variety of events are held across the State during the week aimed at the beginner and beyond.
This year Tasmania's Bike Week will be from the 4th to the 12th of March. Groups around the State will be organising events to celebrate the joy of riding. Check their websites and newsletters for details.
In Hobart, Bicycle Network Tasmania are planning events such as:
- Women on Wheels - Sunday 5th March
- Super Tuesday Bike Count - Tuesday 7th March
- Bike Futures workshop - Thursday 9th March
- Social Rides - several through the week
Bike Week has been running since March 2000 when the Southern Regional Councils Bicycle Committee (now 'Cycling South') organised a Round the River fun ride which started from Salamanca Square. Since then the event has grown to become a statewide events which offers a range of rides to suit all ages and abilities.
