SECTION OF NORTH SOUTH TRACK TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR HAZARDOUS TREE REMOVAL WORKS
The City of Hobart will temporarily close a section of the North South Track on Wednesday 4 June 2014 to undertake hazardous tree removal works.
City of Hobart Acting General Manager, Heather Salisbury said the Council, in conjunction with the Wellington Park Management Trust, will close the North South Track between the Old Hobartians Track and Kangaroo Fire Trail.
"The closure is necessary to allow the safe removal of hazardous trees located next to the track," said Mrs Salisbury.
"Specialist contractors have been engaged to remove the trees by way of a series of small explosive charges, the detonation of which may be heard by residents within Lenah Valley and New Town.
The track will be reopened to the public as soon as it is safe to do so on Thursday 5 June 2014," Mrs Salisbury said.
The City of Hobart apologises for any disruption and inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
