Ben Lomond Feasibility Study

A new feasibility study looking at the economic opportunities of the Ben Lomond Ski village area looks like it got the go ahead at a recent Northern Midlands Council meeting (See 19 January 2015 council minutes, P197 onwards).

Although the focus will be on building upon existing winter-based snow activities, including the development of the beginners' slope and snow play area, the study will consider complimentary activities in the summer.

Which got me thinking - I think most anyone who has ridden the road and trails on Ben Lomond would agree it's an awesome place to ride, and it is an under-developed mountain biking area, but has anyone else gone on to thinking about Ben Lomond as a fat-biking snow playground.

It's where the Meehan Monster could face off with the Cranky Penguin for the ultimate fat-tyred Tasmanian winter cyclo-cross racing show-down.

I'd be there for that one.

While I'm on the topic - imagine a fat bike race up around the Mt Field Ski area.  I'll just leave that thought here.
