Glenorchy BMX Track goes to tender

The Glenorchy City Council has announced tenders are open for a contractor to design and construct a $750,000 facility at Tolosa Park, according to the Mercury Newspaper (15 February 2021),

The Mercury reports that the facility is set to include a pump track and dirt jumps, 5m start ramp with hydraulic start gate, a natural surface track, lighting, and infrastructure for cafe or commercial ventures.

The facility will be open to the local community and visitors, as well a new home to the Southern City BMX Club who will help develop the space.

The project was one of 27 across the state to receive funding under the 2020-2021 Tasmanian Government's Improving the Playing Field grants program, with the track receiving $250,000 funding.

The new track is expected to be completed by January 2021.
