January 2015 Event Updates

Maybe everyone is out riding their bikes (or building trails), but December was a fairly quiet month for event updates with only one new event added (and that was for the Tas Mud Run in April) to the Tassie Trails Events Calendar.

That's not to say there's nothing coming up.  For those wanting to race the Cranky Penguin on 1 February, you've only got until 8am on January 5 to get that entry in, which means do it now (or it may already be too late).

Launceston Mountain Bike Club have a pretty active ride schedule going in January with Round 2 of the Wednesday Night Twilight Races kicking off on January 7 and running pretty much weekly after that, and the next Sprung 2 hour event is on at Hollybank on January 11.

The Dirt Devils MTB Club have the first of their Summer Series XC weekend races kicking off on January 17 (venue to be determined) and the next Interclub Downhill Series event will be hosted by Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club on the weekend of 10-11 January up at Wilmot (if you've seen the facebook update of the work they've done on this track then I'm sure those of you that can go downhill will be getting excited for that one).

Audax Tasmania also has a few interesting rides in January for those who like to get a bit of distance in the legs (there's a 600km ride on the 31st of you're really keen... ) or you could go gravel grinding down to the Bruny Lighthouse and back on January 11

Looking further out, February and March are bursting with events including the Cranky Penguin, The MtnTrails Hill Billy 24 Hr, The Cataract Gorge Challenge, The Great Western Tiers Cycle Challenge, TriSouth's Strategic Multisport Challenge, Bike Week (including the rebadged "big ride" now called "Cycling Sunday"), Rogaining Tasmanian's MTB Bush Rogaine at Sandford, the Tour de Norfolk Plain's, Nic's Cradle Challenge and of course the official opening of the Blue Derby Trails and a plethoroa of club events.

They're all listed on the Tassie Trails Events Page, and if you click on the event it will come up with the real website.

Now go ride your bike.
